Karnataka man found murdered, dismembered inside car in Sharjah; wife, son untraceable

A Karnataka man, who worked in Sharjah, UAE, for 14 years, was found murdered and dismembered in the boot of his car.

The victim was identified as Alwin Prakash Kundar from Kundapur in Udupi district in Karnataka.

He had been working at Sharjah Airport for about 14 years and lived in the UAE with his wife, Tina who he had been married to for 20 years, and their son, who studies in class 10 in Dubai. Tina is a school teacher

On July 20, Prakash’s brother Anil Prashant Kunder tried to contact him, but there was no response. He became suspicious when he received a text message saying he was fine instead of his brother's usual voice message. Prakash usually only talked through voice messages.

A week later, Anil tried contacting him again, but there was no response.

He then called Alwin’s colleague in Sharjah and asked him to inquire about him. When Manohar went to Prakash's apartment, the watchmen said that he had left for India. His company’s HR department also said the same thing.

However, family members confirmed that Prakash did not travel to India. His passport information showed that he was still in the UAE.

The colleague filed a missing person complaint in Sharjah.

Prakash’s body was subsequently found inside his own Toyota car, which was parked on a road on the way to the border to Oman on August 12.

According to Anill, the Body was cut into nine pieces and put into bags. His family said that Alwin was stabbed in the chest.

DNA and other evidence confirmed that the man was Prakash. The DNA was matched with a sample from his older son, who works at Nestle, Anil said.

The case came to light after his family recently made an inquiry about Prakash.

Sharjah police have not issued any statement about the motive behind the murder. The family received a death certificate but did not obtain a copy of the FIR.

It is also believed that Tina and their son may have fled to India. Their whereabouts are unknown. Authorities suspect that Tina played a role in the murder.

Anil said they may have left for India around July 26 or 27.

The case came to light reportedly two months later, when his family members inquired about his disappearance and the whereabouts of his wife and child.

His brother Anil said that the family members have no quarrel with anyone and did not speak about marital problems. They claimed that CCTV footage from the Apartment showed that two men and women were seen moving luggage.

He said that they are trying to complete all legal procedures in the UAE to bring Prakash’s body to India. They also demanded a thorough investigation into the case.
