A 5,053-page chargesheet has been filed in court in connection with the Ketan Agrawal case, which shocked Maharashtra earlier this year. The victim's fiancée Siya Goyal and her boyfriend Chetan Choudary are accused of murdering Ketan Agrawal.
Goyal's family reportedly knew about her relationship with Choudary but proceeded with the arranged marriage to Agrawal, who was from a wealthy family.
In a confession to the Pune Rural Police, the 22-year-old said that she chose to kill her fiancé rather than confront her family and ask them to stop the wedding, as she didn't want to hurt her family’s sentiments. Ketan Agrawal fell to his death from a cliff at Lohagad fort on June 18.
Siya had earlier told investigators that she disliked Ketan, 26, because he wore a wig for baldness and had a lisp or stammer. Investigators said that her family ignored her relationship with Chetan due to the financial difference between their families.
U-turn on hired muscle
As per the chargesheet, the three accused — Siya, Chetan, and Ritesh Harange — initially thought of hiring a hitman from outside Maharashtra to target Ketan. While they had started going through profiles, this plan was ultimately dropped as they came to an agreement that they would all end up behind bars if this man were arrested.
The gang initially wanted the hitman only to seriously hurt Ketan and not kill him. One such person whom the trio contacted has turned witness, TV9 Marathi quoted the chargesheet as saying.
It was then that they came across the Meghalaya honeymoon murder case, in which one Raja Raghuvanshi went missing while vacationing in Meghalaya's Sohra area in May 2025 before being found dead in a deep gorge. Investigations revealed that his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and her lover Raj Kushwaha had hired contract killers to murder Raja for financial gain.

The possibility of making a murder look like an accident thus inspired them to kill Ketan. They started watching films with a similar theme for research and even used ChatGPT, the TV9 Marathi report said.
Lohagad fort was selected by the accused since they had read about a woman falling to her death from the tourist destination, and they wanted to make it look as though Ketan had slipped while taking a selfie. According to the chargesheet, Chetan's friend Ritesh Harange had planned the entire conspiracy.
