The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday slammed Pakistan for its aggression against neighbours following an attack on Afghanistan.
Overnight airstrikes killed at least three civilians, including a man, a woman and a girl, according to the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).
Responding to the attacks in his bi-weekly media briefing, MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India strongly condemns the attacks on Afghanistan's Kunar and Paktika provinces.
"We deeply offer our condolences and precious lives lost. Such instances of aggression against neighbours go against regional peace and security," Jaiswal said.
"Pakistan needs to demonstrate action and firm commitment and they must take credible action against cross-border terrorism before the world believes what they say they are going to do," he added.
Pakistan had previously alleged that its airstrikes killed 28 militants. "Based on credible intelligence, selective targeting of terrorist camps and hideouts belonging to Fitna al Khawarij and its affiliates has also been carried out in the border region with Afghanistan with precision and accuracy," the Pakistani information ministry said, referring to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna al-Khawarij.
However, there is no confirmation regarding this claim from the Afghan side or the UN body.
The Pakistani airstrikes occurred after militant groups operating from Afghan territory allegedly carried out attacks in Pakistan. The Afghan Taliban government has, however, denied these claims.
