The JPSC-JSSC Abhiyarthi Reform Manch headed by JKLM leader Devendra Mahto on Tuesday called off its plan to gherao Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's residence and burn his effigies on Thursday.

The decision comes a day after the government cancelled the JSSC-Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination as well as all examinations conducted by outsourced agency TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) since 2014 over alleged irregularities.

Around Monday midnight, Mahto ended his 16-day hunger strike after the government decision to cancel the exams.

However, on Tuesday, he announced that he would soon launch the second phase of the protest for corruption-free recruitment by JPSC and JSSC.

Mahto said the agitation will continue until the government guarantees that no such irregularities will happen in the future.

"I have ended my hunger strike, not the protest. The agitation will continue till the government gives a guarantee that no paper leak or irregularities will take place in recruitment examinations. We will soon launch the second phase of our protest, demanding corruption-free recruitment in JPSC and JSSC examinations," Mahto said.

Mahto has also sought formation of a monitoring committee to track the reforms and demanded audit for each and every measures taken.

A day after the government ordered CID probe into the exam irregularities, the agency on Tuesday questioned Jharkhand SSC secretary Sudhir Gupta for several hours based on the evidence collected during a raid.
