One of the key accused in the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak scam, Shubham Khairnar, had assured candidates that they would score between 500 and 600 marks in their exams, his WhatsApp chats revealed.

An investigation by the CBI into the now-cancelled NEET exam paper leak showed that Khairnar informed his supplier, Yash Yadav from Pune, that he wanted a copy of their paper.

The deal was reportedly finalised by April 29.

Khairnar and the other accused then lured the candidates into getting the “guess copy” by promising them high marks and admission to prestigious colleges.

Conversations between the accused and other individuals showed that the former had guaranteed candidates that they would get between '500 to 600 marks'.

The paper is graded on 720 marks.

Chats show that he was also in cahoots with a criminal syndicate to obtain the papers and leak them.

The investigators have seized chat logs and other digital evidence from the mobile phone of the accused.

After the paper was leaked in Maharashtra. It spread to multiple state including Gurugram, Jaipur and Sikar, Jammu and Kashmir. Bihar and Kerala.
