Security agencies are now probing a possible Pakistan-linked ISI role in the Punjab twin blasts . Officials say that the timing of the blasts coincides with the anniversary of Operation Sindoor.

The two incidents, a fire and a blast, occurred at Punjab’s Amritsar and Jalandhar on Tuesday night.

The fire incident was reported at 8 pm outside the border security forces headquarters in Jalandhar when a scooter caught fire outside the site.

Two hours later, 100 kilometres away, an explosion occurred along the outer wall of the Army’s Khasa camp on Amritsar Attari road. Fragments that resembled a sheet of metal were found on site, suggesting that an explosive device was used.

Preliminary investigations also indicated that the explosions were carried out by masked individuals.

The authorities are now examining the nature of the explosive devices.

A CCTV footage video also showed the blast happening, a plume of smoke rising, and a person running from the scene.

According to a senior officer, “Teams are working to identify what kind of devices were used. Some sharp objects were recovered from the site. There were no visible wires, but the device appears to have been assembled, indicating it could be an improvised explosive device (IED),”

The National Investigation Agency has reportedly also detected a cross-border angle in the blasts.

Sources say that Pakistan's ISI is suspected of directing foreign-based handlers to orchestrate the attacks, News18 reported.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. On Wednesday claimed that the blasts were designed by the BJP ahead of the elections in 2027.

“Wherever the BJP wants to contest, such incidents take place. Stop such acts. These blasts are part of preparations for Punjab,” he said.

No injuries were reported in either of the blast incidents.

The back-to-back incidents have triggered panic and heightened security across the state as agencies continue their probe into the incidents.
