A Delhi court on Friday cleared and discharged all 23 of the accused in the CBI’s excise policy case of the alleged liquor scam case.

The discharged include former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and ex-deputy Manish Sisodia.

The AAP national convenor was seen outside the Rouse Avenue Court on Friday, addressing reporters while breaking down, saying, "For the past few years, the way BJP has been accusing us in the Delhi excise policy case, today the court has rejected all the allegations levelled against us. We have always said that the truth wins... PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah conspired against AAP and arrested the party's five biggest leaders. A sitting CM was arrested. We were accused and called corrupt in every channel. Kejriwal is not corrupt. I have only earned honesty. The court has said today that Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and AAP are honest."

The order was pronounced by Special Judge Jitendra Singh. The court observed that the alleged central conspiratorial role could not be substantiated by evidence.

The bench noted that the allegation failed judicial scrutiny and found no criminal intent on the part of Manish Sisodia.

Kejriwal and Siodia were both arrested while they were the chief minister and deputy chief minister of Delhi.

In January, a Delhi court had acquitted Kejriwal in two cases filed by the Enforcement Directorate over allegations of skipping the agency’s summons in the probe into the Delhi excise policy case.

The others who were discharged in the case include Kuldeep Singh, Narender Singh, Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpally, Arun Pillai, Mootha Gautam, Sameer Mahendru, Manish Sisodia, Amandeep Singh Dhall, Arjun Pandey, Butchibabu Gorantla, Rajesh Joshi, Damodar Prasad Sharma, Prince Kumar, Arvind Kumar Singh, Chanpreet Singh, K Kavitha, Arvind Kejriwal, Durgesh Pathak, Amit Arora, Vinod Chauhan, Ashish Chand Mathur and Sarath Reddy.

The case arose in 2022 when the CBI registered an FIR alleging that the Delhi Excise Policy of 2021022 was manipulated to facilitate the monopolisation and cartelisation of the liquor trade in Delhi. The attendees were mainly leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party.

The political leader spent a considerable time in jail, with Kejriwal being under custody for 56 days. Sisodia was in jail for around 530 days after being arrested in february 26, 2023.
