The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, calling her the "female Ghajini of Indian politics," after she raised the issue of the Gaza genocide ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Israel.
The reference to Ghajini, a 2008 Bollywood film featuring a character with short-term memory loss, was used by the BJP to accuse Priyanka Gandhi of showing “selective” outrage on the matter.
"The Female Ghajini of Indian politics is back!" BJP national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia wrote on X, sharing an old photo of Priyanka Gandhi carrying a bag with 'Palestine' written on it in Parliament.
"Carrying a 'Palestine' bag to Parliament is easy, but having the moral courage to condemn the Oct 7th massacre of 1,200-plus innocents, women being abducted and raped is clearly too hard for Priyanka Gandhi," Bhatia said. "You may carry the fake Gandhi surname, but you clearly lack the conviction and courage. #SelectiveOutrage."

Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi had criticised Modi's visit to Israel, saying she hoped the Prime Minister would address the genocide in Gaza while speaking in the Israeli parliament. She also emphasised that India must continue to be a beacon of truth, peace, and justice for the world.
Modi departed for Israel on a two-day visit on Wednesday morning, as the two nations aim to strengthen cooperation in defence, security, technology, and trade. This marks Modi’s second visit to Israel as Prime Minister.
Earlier, Congress General Secretary for Communications, Jairam Ramesh, accused Modi of "moral cowardice" in light of global criticism of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ramesh criticised Modi for "brazenly embracing" Netanyahu, who has faced condemnation for the military actions of the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) in Gaza and the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied West Bank.
