NCP chief Sharad Pawar was admitted to Ruby hall clinic following complaints related to the throat, cough and breathing issues. He was taken to the Pune clinic from his residence in Baramati.
The 85-year-old was initially being treated at his residence but was taken to Pune as symptoms persisted.
Ruby Hall Clinic chief cardiologist and managing trustee Dr Parvez Grant told PTI, "Upon arrival, a team of doctors will check him and accordingly, further course of action will be decided."
Hospital authorities said that Pawar is under medical observation and is being examined by a team of specialists.
Pawar’s daughter and MP Supriya Sule, along with his son-in-law Sadanand Sule and his wife, Pratibha Pawar, accompanied him to the hospital.
The development has come just days after the death of his nephew Ajit Pawar in a plane crash in Baramati.
Pawar is a survivor of oral cancer which he was diagnosed with in the late 1990’s. He underwent multiple surgeries in the United States and India as part of the treatment.
