What should have been a minor road collision in Bengaluru turned into a full-blown fight in the early hours of Sunday, as two drunk women beat a taxi driver with helmets.

The late-night incident spread panic among even bystanders at the Hulimavu-Devarachikkanahalli Main Road, who had tried to break up the fight, but were attacked by the women too.

The two women were later caught by the Hulimavu Police, who took them into custody.

How it happened

Reports say that the incident began when the two drunk women on a two-wheeler accidentally collided with the rear-end of the taxi driver's car.

This led to the taxi driver, identified as Ahmed, stopping his car to confront the two intoxicated women, who were reportedly returning from a friend's place. What began as a minor dispute over the collision quickly escalated into a heated argument.

At one point, the women allegedly abused Ahmed verbally before beating him with a helmet. However, it is not known if Ahmed had been carrying passengers at the time.

At one point, a Moneycontrol report claimed that the women also allegedly used a metal chain wrapped around their hands to hit the driver, but THE WEEK could not independently verify this.

This open-road drama became worse when locals tried to intervene, as the women would verbally and physically attack every single person that tried to break up the fight or restrain them.

Visuals from the scene show the women hurling abuses, making obscene gestures, and aggressively confronting people in the crowd. Some locals can also be heard shouting back insults in response to them. In one clip, one of the women is seen kicking the people who attempted to restrain her and prevent further violence.

Though the Hulimavu police arrived on the scene a while later and detained the women, they allegedly continued hurling abuses at bystanders even from inside the police vehicle, until it drove away.
