The controversy over the allegations made by RJD patriarch Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya against her family members refuses to die down with politicians cutting across party lines in Bihar weighing in on the issue.
In a social media post on Saturday, a day after the Bihar assembly election results were announced, Rohini said she was "quitting politics" and "disowning her family".
Her emotionally-charged posts on Sunday, highlighting the hurt of being pushed aside, feeling worthless, and carrying a heavy emotional burden, have sparked wide discussion across the state.
Senior RJD leader and former MP Shivanand Tiwari questioned why Lalu Prasad did not come out in defence of his daughter.
"Can't he see anything? His daughter left his home; she said a slipper was thrown at her, and she left her home in tears. A daughter leaves her father's home in tears, and Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi sat there watching," Tiwari told NDTV.
The veteran politician further alleged that parties like RJD have become a ‘one-man show’. Tiwari claimed he was removed as the party's vice-president after he suggested that Tejashwi Yadav take to the streets to protest against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Rohini, in her posts, had taken potshots at Tejashwi as she held two close aides of the RJD leader responsible for the party’s debacle in the recent assembly elections.
In a sensational allegation, the 46-year-old said that her family members had claimed that she had taken crores of rupees and a ticket to contest the election after donating her “dirty kidney” to her father.
“I got my father to have my dirty kidney transplanted, and today I am told that the same kidney is a curse," she said.
