RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, on Monday, was elected as the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Legislative Assembly at a meeting of the party's newly elected MLAs in Patna.
Following the meeting, party leader Shakti Singh Yadav claimed that the resounding victory of the NDA came from "machinery management."
The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) managed to win only 25 of the 143 seats it contested. The INDIA bloc faced a crushing defeat at the hands of the NDA, which managed to secure 202 seats in the 243-member assembly.
Shakti Singh Yadav claimed that a 90 per cent strike rate is not possible for any political party in the world.
"In today's meeting, all party leaders elected Tejashwi as the legislature party leader. In the review meeting, party chief, former chief minister Rabri Devi, senior leaders, including Jagadanand Singh and Uday Narayan Singh, expressed their views on the public mandate. It is clear that neither the public nor the political parties can digest the mandate that has been delivered. This mandate has come from machinery management," Shakti Singh Yadav said.
Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav is expected to hold a meeting to discuss the future course of action for the party following its poor show in the Bihar polls.
According to party sources, Tejashwi Yadav will "discuss the poor performance of the INDIA bloc in the Bihar polls in 2025" and decide on the "future course of action for the party" after the formation of the new NDA government.
