The terror module involving several doctors, which is allegedly behind the car blast outside the Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi, was on the lookout for a radicalised suicide bomber with conviction since last year, a fresh report said. The report once again asserted that Dr Umar un Nabi, who was inside the Hyundai i20 when the blast happened, was the key figure behind the incident.

The "hunt" for the suicide bomber was revealed when the Srinagar Police managed to arrest a youth identified as Jasir alias 'Danish' based on interrogations of Adeel Rather and Dr Muzammil Ganaie, who were part of the terror module. A Political Science graduate, Jasir confessed to having met the members of the terror module at a mosque in Kulgam last October.

A native of Qazigund in south Kashmir, the youngster told the police that after the initial meeting, the doctors took him to a rented accommodation at Al Falah University in Faridabad. While some of the members wanted to use Jasir as a resource person on the ground, Dr Umar un Nabi wanted him to carry out a suicide blast, Times of India said in a report. The chief conspirator spent the following months trying to convince Jasir to carry out the blast, the daily added.
Dr Umar un Nabi chose himself to be a Fidayeen?
However, the plan did not materialise and the youngster backed out. Around April, Jasir categorically told Dr Umar that he couldn't kill himself when his family was not doing well financially. He also pointed out that suicide was against the preachings of the religion, the TOI report said. According to the probe team, the grand plan was to execute serial blasts in India on a date not far away from December 6 — coinciding with the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary.

While the plan was still going on, Dr Muzammil Ganaie was caught by the police, and large quantities of explosives were seized from him. This started the undoing of the doctor module, and Dr Umar un Nabi died while trying to execute a hastily devised and attempted blast. The daily added that the police currently do not believe the Kashmir native decided to become the suicide bomber himself. He would have wanted to park the car at a busy location and flee before it went off, but the unstable 'Mother of Satan' went off while he was still driving.
