Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a blistering attack on the Narendra Modi government in Lok Sabha, questioning the alleged intelligence failure that led to the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack.
Participating in a debate on the Operation Sindoor in the lower house on Tuesday, the Wayanad MP urged the Centre to take responsibility for the attack and explain how the massacre took place.
"Yesterday, the defence minister spoke for an hour, during which he spoke about terrorism, protecting the country, and also gave a history lesson. But one thing was left out. How did this attack happen?” she asked.

Priyanka Gandhi asked if the government was not aware that thousands of tourists go to Baisaran Valley in Jammu and Kashmir. “Why was there no security? Why were they left at God's mercy?”
Twenty-six people, mostly tourists, lost their lives as five to six terrorists, who sneaked out of the dense forest, sprayed bullets on them after verifying their religious identity.
The Congress leader asserted that it was the responsibility of the prime minister, home minister, defence minister and the national security advisor to ensure people’s security.
“Was no government agency in the know that such a dastardly terror attack was going to happen and a plot was being hatched in Pakistan?” she further asked.
Leadership is not just about taking credit, but responsibility also needs to be taken, Priyanka Gandhi said in a direct attack on Prime Minister Modi.
"This government always tries to escape the questions. They have no sense of accountability towards the citizens of the nation. The truth is that they have no place for the public in their heart. For them, everything is politics, publicity,” she charged.
The Congress MP also launched a broadside at the government over US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he had brokered a ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
New Delhi and Islamabad agreed to a ceasefire on May 10 after three days of intense military confrontation following India’s air strikes at nine terrorist hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor.
“First time in the history of our country, this happened that the war was stopped abruptly and the announcement of the decision was done by the US President,” she said.
“This reflects the irresponsibility of our prime minister”.
