A viral video of Shiv Sena minister Sanjay Shirsat showing a bag full of currency notes in the room of his house has been doing the rounds in the corridors of power in the Maharashtra legislature. This comes after Shirsat, who has been at the centre of controversy over a hotel deal in Aurangabad, received income tax notice on his assets.

The viral clip shows Shirsat sitting on the bed and smoking, wearing a banyan and shorts. His pet dog then enters the frame as the camera moves around in the room. The viewers are then shown a bag containing wads of currency notes. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a probe into the hotel deal.

Shirsat, while speaking to media, has denied that the bags contained wads of currency notes, claiming it was just papers bound together using rubber bands. Shiv Sena UBT, however, alleged that it is the money of corruption and have dared Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis to take action against Shirsat.

Shiv Sena UBT MP Sanjay Raut has posted on X that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah must watch the viral video. “What's going on in the country! (This video of a Maharashtra minister says a lot),” Raut wrote.

Shiv Sena UBT legislator Aditya Thackeray said, "We have been saying for the last two-and-a-half years, Pannas Khoke, Ekdum Ok, which translates to '50 boxes full of money and all is well'. So it must be one of those boxes that is seen in the video. This video is going viral. The person concerned is a cabinet minister. He has faced allegations in hotel deal, land grabbing and what not. Even CM has ordered a probe."

"The only question that remains is whether the boss of this gang, Eknath Shinde, will take action against him. No, he will not. So we want to see whether the BJP government in at the Centre will taken any action after issuing IT notice to the minister," said Aditya.

Shirsat is just not bothered, said Aditya, adding that if Fadnavis wants to take real action against the corruption, then he should do so immediately after watching the video.
