A team of tactical police personnel in Sydney rammed a car heading to Bondi Beach and arrested five men who were heavily armed. This comes four days after a deadly terror attack by a father-son duo killed 15 civilians at Bondi Beach.

The operation was initiated following a top-level classified briefing, according to sources cited by news.com.au. Officers from New South Wales police, Australian Federal Police (AFP) and Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) were part of the operation.

The incident happened in Liverpool, Sydney when police intercepted two cars and used a LandCruiser to ram a white Hyundai to prevent a "violent act". Police were able to stop the second car as well.

Heavily armed officers in camouflage rushed out of their vehicles and detained the men with zip-ties on a footpath.

"Tactical Operations police responded to information received that a violent act was possibly being planned," a spokesperson from NSW Police said.

“Police subsequently intercepted two cars as part of the investigation. As investigations continue, seven men are assisting police with their inquiries. At this point in time, police have not identified any connection to the current police investigation of the Bondi terror attack," the official added.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) Commissioner Krissy Barrett said there will be more raids in the coming days to complete the ongoing investigation into the Bondi Beach attack.
