Bengaluru police have registered a case against the Indian Air Force officer involved in the road rage case after the call centre employee filed a counter-complaint in the matter. Police have reportedly booked the officer for 'attempt to murder' and other relevant charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Bengaluru police said a case was registered against IAF Commander Shiladitya Bose after call centre employee Vikas Kumar accused the former of assaulting him. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Devaraj D., said that a case has been registered against Shiladitya Bose under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Byappanahalli police station based on the counter complaint given by Vikas Kumar who alleged that he was also assaulted by the officer, PTI reported.

The incident came to light after the IAF commander shared a video on social media alleging he was assaulted and verbally abused by a group of bike-borne Kannada-speaking individuals on Monday morning while he was en route to Bengaluru airport.
Allegedly, both parties have attacked each other and some purported videos showed the IAF officer roughing up the accused. After the video went viral, Bengaluru police registered a complaint based on IAF commander's wife, Squadron Leader Madhumita Dutta's complaint.
Terming it a case of road rage, police arrested Vikas Kumar, who works as a team head at a software company's call centre. DCP Devaraj said CCTV footage from the area and videos recorded by bystanders showed that the parties involved could have avoided the conflict.
"An altercation took place between them. Both attacked each other. Around 6am on Monday, the Air Force officer was heading from his DRDO quarters to Kempegowda International Airport. His wife was driving, and he was seated beside her."

According to police, when the couple approached the police station to file a complaint, the SHO advised them to get first aid, as the IAF officer was bleeding, and then return to file a complaint. "But since he was getting late, he left for the airport. Once he went live on social media, we found out. We then traced Madhumita's details and approached the DRDO quarters. She came to the station and lodged a complaint. We have registered an FIR under (section dealing with) grievous hurt," the DCP said.
According to police, during interrogation, Vikas Kumar claimed that he was passing by when the woman allegedly made a remark and he asked, "What are you talking about?" and then approached the IAF officer to ask, "What is Madam saying?".
In a video statement, Kumar's mother Jyothi sought justice for her son and said they had initially decided to overlook the issue and avoid complaining with the police, but the IAF officer raked up the matter.
