Senior BJP leader Subramanian Swamy, on Tuesday, claimed that the BJP's less-than-expected performance in the Lok Sabha elections was because of the "dictatorial mindset" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The BJP appeared falling significantly short of its ambitious target of bagging over 400 seats.
My estimate of 220 for BJP a low estimate has turned to be very close to the truth of 237, Subramanian Swamy said in a tweet.
According to the Election Commission website, the saffron party is leading in as many as 237 seats while the Congress, which improved its 2019 tally of 52, is leading in 98 seats.

Perhaps, the biggest surprise for the saffron party has come Uttar Pradesh, where according to EC figures, Akhilesh Yadav-led SP is leading in 35 seats. The NDA had won 62 seats from the state, which sends 80 MPs to Parliament, in the 2019 polls.
"Had the BJP followed the suggestions I had made then BJP could achieved 300. Unfortunately, the dictatorial mindset of Modi has put BJP in a ditch from which it has to now climb out," Subramanian Swamy said in a tweet.
