A video of the famous Statue of Liberty getting toppled down has gone viral on social media.
On Monday, a 24-meter-tall replica of the Statue of Liberty fell face down after strong winds and a severe storm overtook Guiaba city in Brazil.
The statue was located outside a Haven department store, in a McDonalds parking lot, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul.
Netizens had a field day with the video. One person quoted the video on X, simply saying “foreshadowing.”

Many said that it was a sign from the universe. One person said, “This is the burger equivalent of a Roman divine warning."
Another person said, “The real symbol of American power stands tall in the background,” referring to the very visible yellow McDonald's logo right behind the statue.

In the video, the 24-metre statue slowly leaned over before a blow hit, making it fall, crashing down to the road. The collapse happened due to wind speeds reaching around 80 to 90 km/h.
The storm had caught the city off guard despite weather warnings. While the statue fell, the base stood strong.
Cars had already moved out of the way after the figure began leaning forward unnaturally, and no injuries were reported.
Havan store staff had also blocked off the traffic in the area after the figure fell.

The department store is known for having many replicas around the country. The company has insisted that its statutes were built with proper engineering. Havan has now launched an internal investigation to understand why the one in Guaiba failed.
According to Havan, the replica that fell was installed in 2020.
