A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's grand roadshow in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur, the state will witness another high-profile leader's visit on Monday as Rahul Gandhi will fly down to the state's Seoni district to kickstart Congress campaign.

Modi had ramped up the saffron party campaign in the state on Sunday as he, along with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, embarked on a massive roadshow attended by thousands of people.

While the Prime Minister's campaign focused on the state's Mahakoshal region, which comprises Congress stronghold Chhindwara, Rahul Gandhi will address a public meeting at Dhanora in the southern Seoni district. The former Congress chief will address a gathering in support of the party’s Mandla Lok Sabha candidate Omankar Singh Markam. He will arrive at Dhanora around 12.40, address the rally and leave for Shahdol, where he will participate in local events before departing for Jabalpur.

Seoni and Shahdol are tribal areas which have traditionally stood with Congress. During the just-concluded Assembly elections, the party fared well in tribal areas, winning 22 seats of the 47 reserved for the STs.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will come to Satna in the state next week. Madhya Pradesh, which votes in the first phase, will also see Union Minister Rajnath Singh holding meetings in different constituencies of the state.

During the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the ruling party swept the remaining 28 seats of the total 29 in the state, except Chhindwara.

PM Modi in Chandrapur, Bastar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address a rally in Bastar in Chhattisgarh on Monday. He will address a rally in Aamabal village in Bhanpuri in Bastar Lok Sabha constituency. Polls for the 11 Lok Sabha seats in Chhattisgarh will take place in three phases on April 19, April 26 and May 7.

The PM will also attend a rally in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district on Monday. The BJP has nominated the state's Forest, Cultural Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar from Chandrapur Lok Sabha constituency. Polling in the seat, located in the Vidarbha region, will be held in the first phase on April 19.
