Countering the Katchatheevu attack against the Congress-DMK alliance, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday posed three questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he should answer them instead of indulging in diversion tactics.

“People of Tamil Nadu have only got three questions for people who are posing sudden affection towards fishermen after being in Kumbakarna slumber for 10 years,” Stalin tweeted.

Stalin asked, “One, If Tamil Nadu gives Re 1 as tax, why does the Union government return only 29 paise? Two, Why Tamil Nadu has not been given even one rupee as flood relief despite facing two natural calamities in succession? Three, is there at least one special scheme implemented in Tamil Nadu during 10 years of the BJP regime?” Stalin said Modi should answer them without indulging in diversions.

Prime Minister Modi on Monday launched a fresh attack on DMK and Congress and said, “Rhetoric aside, DMK has done NOTHING to safeguard Tamil Nadu’s interests. New details emerging on #Katchatheevu have UNMASKED the DMK’s double standards totally. Congress and DMK are family units. They only care that their own sons and daughters rise. They don’t care for anyone else. Their callousness on Katchatheevu has harmed the interests of our poor fishermen and fisherwomen in particular.”

An RTI reply received by Tamil Nadu BJP President K. Annamalai revealed that India ceded Katchatheevu Island to Sri Lanka during former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s regime and the then Karunanidhi government in the state gave concurrence to the agreement between India and Sri Lanka.
