Former Indian ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu joined the Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday. He joined the party in the presence of its general secretaries Vinod Tawde and Tarun Chugh.

Sandhu said he has worked closely with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the past 10 years and said the PM is focused about development. “In the last 10 years, I have worked closely with PM Modi's leadership, especially in the relationship with the United States and Sri Lanka. PM Modi is development-focused,” he said.

He added India-Us relationship has transformed during the past four years. “There has been a transformation in India-US relations in the past four years. It has transformed from a relationship to a partnership. India has received investments in many areas. Opportunities are created for the youth. I am concerned that Amritsar should not miss the opportunities the country is getting,” ANI quoted Sandhu as saying. He added his hometown Amritsar has a lot of potential and he is very affectionate towards it.

Sandhu thanked the prime minister, Home Minister Amit Shah and Party President J.P. Nadda for his political innings.
