A ‘Modi guarantee’ is getting fulfilled through the inauguration of HURL fertiliser plant in Sindri, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said dedicating development works worth 35,700 crore in Jharkhand on Friday.

Recalling his resolution to start the plant, Modi said, “This was Modi ki Guarantee and today this guarantee has been fulfilled.” Recalling he laid the foundation stone for the plant in 2018, Modi said, “I took a resolution to revive this plant. This was Modi's guarantee. In 2018, I came here to lay the foundation stone of this plant. This will provide thousands of opportunities for employment. This is a huge step toward 'Atma Nirbharta'.

Modi added, "Every year, around 360 lakh metric tonnes of urea is required in India. In 2014, 225 lakh metric tonnes of urea was produced. To fill this gap, India had to import urea. In the last 10 years, urea production has become 310 lakh metric tonnes.”

The plant will add about 12.7 LMT (lakh metric tonne) per annum of indigenous urea production, benefiting farmers of the country. This is the third fertiliser plant to be revived in the country, after such facilities at Gorakhpur and Ramagundam, which were also dedicated to the nation by the prime minister in December 2021 and November 2022 respectively.

PM Modi also launched rail, power and coal projects worth over Rs 26,000 crore in Jharkhand.
