In what appears to be a clear end to speculations of his switchover to the BJP, senior Madhya Pradesh Congress leader Kamal Nath hailed Rahul Gandhi, calling him "our leader."

Taking to X, the Congress leader said the people of Madhya Pradesh and Congress workers are excited to welcome Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

"Our leader Shri Rahul Gandhi has taken to the streets across the country and announced a decisive fight against injustice, oppression and exploitation," Nath said.

Further, he urged the people of MP and Congress workers "to become the strength and courage of Rahul Gandhi by joining the Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra in maximum numbers."

"Together you and I will bring this great campaign against injustice to an end."

The yatra will enter Madhya Pradesh at Morena from Rajasthan on March 2. It will pass through Gwalior, Shivpuri, Guna, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Ujjain, Dhar and Ratlam before entering Rajasthan again on March 6 from Sailana.

During the four-day tour in the state, Gandhi will conduct road shows and meetings. He will perform puja at Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain and address a public meeting in Dhar district on March 6.

Nath had kept the Congress leadership and cadre on tenterhooks for a few days as there were speculations that he would join the saffron party. Speculations were rife ever since Nath and his MP son Nakul Nath reached New Delhi last week. However, Nath's confidant Sajjan Singh Verma had denied reports that the 77-year-old veteran Congress leader would join the BJP.

On Thursday, Madhya Pradesh minister Kailash Vijayvargiya had said the BJP does not need Kamal Nath, and its doors are closed for him.
