Fugitive self-styled godman Nithyananda said he had been invited to the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya and that he would attend the event on January 22.

"Don't miss this historic and extraordinary event! Lord Rama will be formally invoked in the temple's main deity during the traditional Prana Pratishtha and will be landing to grace the entire world!,” Nithyananda wrote on X.

"Having been formally invited, the Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism, Bhagavan Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam will be attending this grand event," the post added.

Nithyananda is wanted in India on several charges of rape and sexual assault allegations. The godman reportedly fled the country in 2019 and claimed to have set up an island country named as ‘Kailasa’.

The ‘virtual’ island is said to be located off the coast of Ecuador.

In 2022, a Karnataka court issued a non-bailable warrant against him. Indian officials suspect that he could be shuffling between Ecuador and Trinidad and Tobago, while some news suggested that he may have gone to Ecuador because the country does not have an extradition treaty with India.

Ecuadorian government has denied his presence in the country.

The much-awaited Ram temple consecration ceremony will be held on January 22 with the temple set to be open to the public on the following day.
