Heavy rains lashed Bengaluru on Monday night, throwing the already-congested city traffic out of gear. Several roads in Bengaluru were inundated forcing motorists to wade through the waterlogged roads to reach their destinations.
The affected areas include Devarabeesanahalli along Outer Ring Road, Salem underbridge at Mahadevapura, Roopena Agrahara along Hosur road, Nayandahalli along Mysuru Road, Haraluru Junction, Hosur Road, Railway underpass, Sheshadripuram among others.
Many motorists took to X to vent their frustration at the situation. Hitting out at the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, a commuter took to Twitter to share the image of his vehicle, which broke down after hitting a pothole. "I’m a victim of #BengaluruRains today. Was heading back home from office at 11:30 pm. Exactly on Marathahalli bridge towards HAL there’s a huge pothole. I was at 40 km speed, my front left hit the pothole and it immediately got punctured," he posted.
Another wrote: "I don't know who else to tag, who can solve the situation at "Kariammana Agrahara Rd, Bellandur"? We are stuck here on a narrow bridge since 3.5 hours now due to water logging. There is no way out!"
A X user highlighted the severity of the issue and sought a solution for the issue. "#BengaluruRains problem is no joke! Just a few hours of rainfall and water logging becomes a major issue. It's high time our elected representatives put aside political statements and actually work towards finding a solution for our city"
IMD predictions
The situation is unlikely to improve on Tuesday as the IMD has predicted more showers. According to the weather agency, the city will receive heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the next three days. "There will be heavy rainfall which will likely occur in the second half of the day. There will be spells of heavy rains at around 6 p.m. Also late evening rains are expected during the next three days," IMD city head Prasad was quoted by The Hindu.
