The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Trinamool Congress general secretary Abhishek Banerjee for questioning on October 3 in connection with West Bengal teacher recruitment scam. Interestingly, the MP pointed out that the date coincides with party’s scheduled protest rally in Delhi.
"Earlier this month, the ED summoned me on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of INDIA in Delhi. I dutifully appeared and complied with the served summons," he said.
"Now, today yet again they have served me another summons to appear before them on a day when the protest agitation for West Bengal's rightful dues is scheduled in Delhi on 3rd Oct. This stark revelation unequivocally exposes those who are truly perturbED, rattlED and scarED!," he added.

The agency had questioned Banerjee, nephew of TMC supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on September 13 for almost nine hours in the case. The MP had said the interrogation was an effort to prevent him from participating in the INDIA meet and a testimony to the vital role TMC is playing in forging the opposition unity.
"The summons by ED was sent, so I can't attend the INDIA meeting. The summons is a testimony to the important role TMC plays in forging the opposition unity," he had said while thanking the INDIA bloc leaders for issuing statements in his favour.
The central agency had last month conducted raids in the Kolkata office of 'Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd' in connection with the school jobs scam. The ED claimed that Banerjee is the chief executive officer of the company.
