National Conference vice president Omar Abdullah on Sunday slammed the Congress party's stand on the CBI case against Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and asked why it is demanding resignation of the AAP leader.
"How does this work? When CBI/ED/NIA etc. go after Congress leaders then these organisations are the discredited agents of the BJP yet when AAP leaders are targeted then suddenly the credibility is restored. How can the agencies be both credible and discredited at the same time?" tweeted the former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister.
"My limited point was about the Congress' contradictory positions where the investigative agencies are concerned,” he further said.
His tweets echoed the remarks of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti who also had criticised the Congress for staging protests against Sisodia. Accusing the Congress of joining the BJP's propaganda, Mufti had sought to remind the grand old party that its leaders were also being investigated by the central agencies.
The Congress has been demanding resignation of Sisodia ever since he was named as an accused by the CBI in its FIR filed in connection with the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Delhi government's Excise Policy 2021-22.
The Delhi Congress leaders and workers had staged protest outside the AAP office on Saturday. Party leader Manickam Tagore said Sisodia and his "gang" were caught in a "real corrupt act" and deserve to be brought to justice.
The CBI on Friday searched 31 locations including Sisodia's residence in connection with the case.
The AAP claims that the CBI raids are being carried out as the BJP feared Kejriwal and the 2024 Lok Sabha polls will be a battle between the AAP chief and Modi.
