A little over a decade after the release of his most-discussed horror hit, filmmaker David Robert Mitchell is hard at work on putting together the sequel, for which he has been assembling some of the most accomplished names in showbiz. Titled "They Follow", the feature, written and directed by Mitchell again, finds him reuniting with the film's lead star, Maika Monroe ("Longlegs"), who reprises her original role, Jay Height.

Backed by noted indie studio NEON, filming for "They Follow" is scheduled to begin principal photography in the summer of 2026. Production was initially expected to commence earlier, but faced considerable delays due to Mitchell's work on his sci-fi dinosaur thriller "The End of Oak Street". As of now, the makers are reportedly aiming for a summer 2026 start.

Aside from Maika Monroe, Keir Gilchrist is also returning as Paul. The new cast additions, as per a Deadline report, include Naomi Ackie ("Blink Twice") as one of the main leads, horror icon Jackie Earle Haley, Michael Gandolfini, Justine Lupe, Melora Walters, and Tom Pecinka.

Mitchell is also reuniting with some of his previous behind-the-scenes collaborators, cinematographer Mike Gioulakis, editor Julio C. Perez IV, and composer Disasterpeace. The film will have an all-new electronic score. While plot details are tightly under wraps, we know that the new film takes place a decade after the events of the first film, with the "sexually transmitted curse" expected to multiply and create more havoc this time around, probably on a global scale, as suggested by the official tagline, "It's everywhere."
