The BJP has gone on the offensive after the Enforcement Directorate launched raids at multiple locations linked to Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab on Thursday.

Parab and others have been booked in a case filed under sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, who has been a prominent voice of criticism against figures in the Uddhav Thackeray government, released a video following news of the raids.

Somaiya said just like how “Anil Deshmukh and Nawab Malik are in jail, Anil Parab should be ready.” Both Deshmukh and Malik were NCP ministers in the Uddhav Thackeray government. Mohit Kamboj, another BJP leader in Mumbai, tweeted Parab was “Minister Of Fabrication Cases Against Opposition”.

Meanwhile, constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government have hit out at the BJP following the raids on Parab. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut told ANI “We're in support of Anil Parab. BJP is using Central government agencies against the opposition. This is just a conspiracy to defame the Maharashtra government.”

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said “Central investigation agencies have right (to search and raid), but they should not be misused powers. Don't know why this action has been taken against State Minister Anil Parab. All I want to say is that action should be held in a transparent manner.”
