Pilot killed in Army chopper crash in north Kashmir

A helicopter of the Army crashed in Gurez in Bandipora district of north Kashmir on Friday.

The incident happened at Gujran Nallah in Gurez Valley 140 km from Srinagar.  After the crash a rescue operation was launched by the Army.  

The pilot was killed in the crash and the co-pilot sustained injuries.

The injured co-pilot has been rushed to a medical facility, they said, adding that his condition was stated to be critical.

The two pilots belonged to Army Aviation Corps and were of the rank of major.

The helicopter was about to land but "drifted away" because of the weather conditions, an official told PTI.
