RAIPUR (Chhattisgarh)

Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel will be launching the ‘Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana soon in the state. Under this scheme, the state government will give annual financial aid of Rs. 6000 to rural landless families. On the day of the launch, the first installment of aid will be directly transferred to the bank account of landless families. Under this scheme, landless families of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) labourers along with barbers, launderers, blacksmiths, and priests will be benefited. The chief minister says that his government is committed to the welfare of the poor and the marginalized in the state. He is carrying forward the vision of the former Prime Minister Late Rajiv Gandhi, hence he has named this scheme of the state government after him, as a tribute to this visionary.

The chief minister said that he has invited Member of Parliament and Congress President Mrs.Sonia Gandhi, Member of Parliament Mr.Rahul Gandhi, Mrs.Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior leaders to attend the launch ceremony of ‘Rajiv Gandhi Gramin Bhumiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana’ as guests.

This is an innovative scheme of the Chhattisgarh government to benefit landless families. There is no such scheme in other states of the country. The Government of Chhattisgarh has made a provision of Rs 200 crore for this scheme in the budget for the financial year 2021-22.

It is noteworthy that in 2020, Chief Minister Mr.Bhupesh Baghel had launched ‘Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana’ in the name of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Rajiv Gandhi to promote crop productivity and crop diversification to the farmers in the state.

Around 22 lakh farmers of the state are getting benefited under this scheme. So far, an amount of more than Rs 10,176 crore has been transferred to the farmers in the state as direct help under this scheme in their bank accounts. By the end of March, 22 lakh farmers will be given another Rs 1500 crore as the fourth installment of the scheme. All major Kharif crops as well as horticulture crops and plantations have been included in the Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana. There is a provision to give financial aid of Rs.9000 per acre to all the productive farmers of Kharif 2021.
