In an attempt to expose the mismanagement of floods in chief minister MK Stalin’s constituency, Tamil Nadu BJP chief K. Annamalai visited Kolathur but ended up getting criticised for staging a photo-op. The video of Annamalai sitting on a boat in ankle-deep water, with his party colleague Karu Nagarajan, went viral on social media.

In the backdrop, one can hear his aides instructing the lensman to shoot a video in a particular manner.

The videographer capturing Annamalai is heard asking others walking beside the boat, in ankle-deep water, to move so that Annamalai and Nagarajan get visibility. The video which went viral on social media was trolled extensively by the netizens, as Annamalai used a boat to traverse a street with ankle-deep water, where he could have walked to meet the people. In the video, Annamalai is seen asking a woman to go upstairs to avoid flood and stay safe.

In another video, Annamalai said that Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Minister P. Sekar Babu had threatened BJP party men. This was called a bluff by the DMK IT wing.

In the video, a few BJP supporters are heard shouting, “Bolo. Bharat Mata ki Jai,” as Chief minister MK Stalin’s convoy slows down to stop hearing the slogans. Sekar Babu, who alights from the vehicle walks to the protesters asking them, “What is the noise for?” And one BJPian is heard saying, “No brother, we came to give a petition.” Sekar Babu then says, “Any one person come and give the petition.”

Annamalai spent the day visiting flooded regions, and accused the DMK government had failed in managing the floods.

In another video, released by his team on social media, Annamalai is seen walking in knee-deep water in Kolathur. While Annamalai tried to pin the blame on the CM for waterlogging, an old lady is seen accosting him and defending Stalin, “Yes, he has just taken over as the CM. What will he do? Why have you come here and what are you going to do?”

An angry Annamalai later took his ire out on the media, accusing them of not exposing the DMK government.
