A week after he took oath as the chief minister of Karnataka, Basavaraj Bommai's ministerial team is in place. A total of 29 ministers took oath at the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday.

Before the swearing-in, Bommai revealed that the state would not have a deputy chief minister, in a break with the past. "Last time, under the cabinet headed by (B.S.) Yediyurappa, we had three deputy CMs. This time, the high command has decided not to have any deputy CM,” Bommai was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

There had been speculation more than three deputy chief ministers could be sworn in to address caste and regional aspirations.

The new ministers include several popular members of the Yediyurappa cabinet. They include former deputy chief minister Govind M. Karjol, former rural development and Panchayat Raj minister K.S. Eshwarappa, former revenue minister R. Ashok and social welfare minister B. Sreeramulu.

The other ministers include V. Somanna, Umesh Katti, S. Angara, J.C. Madhuswamy, Araga Jnanendra, C.N. Ashwathnarayan, C.C. Patil and Anand Singh.
