While Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate a 5-star hotel and redeveloped Gandhinagar Railway Station on Friday afternoon, all eyes will be on the new attractions at Ahmedabad’s Science City– a robotic gallery, aquatic gallery and a nature park.

These new attractions will also be inaugurated by the prime minister on Friday.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 127 crore, the three-storied robotic gallery will have 79 types of robots. Spread over 11,000 square metres, the gallery will have, at the entrance, a humanoid robot that will interact with the people.

The gallery will also feature history of the robots and showcase how robots are being used by DRDO and other agencies.

A unique feature of the gallery is a café in which a robot “chef” will prepare food that a robot “waiter” will serve to the customers.

Another key attraction – the aquatic gallery – is spread over 15,000 square metres and has 68 tanks. More than 180 marine species, including amphibians and penguins, will be on display.

A government spokesperson said a 28-meter shark tunnel, having zebra shark and other sharks, will be one of the star attractions.

Constructed at a cost of Rs 260 crore, it is touted to be India’s largest public aquarium.

The nature park has been set up in consultation with the forest department with the aim to educate the visitors about flora. Spread over 20 acres, it has bamboo tunnel, oxygen park and space to play chess and do yoga. Separate jogging tracks have also been laid.

In Gandhinagar, a 318-bed five-star hotel has been made on top of the redeveloped Gandhinagar Railway Station. The station and the hotel are close to Mahatma Gandhi Mandir, a convention centre that hosts national and international events.
