Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was admitted to U N Mehta Heart Hospital in Ahmedabad last night, has tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning. A medical bulletin issued by the hospital has stated that his sample for RT-PCR, which was taken Sunday night, has come positive.
Rupani, who was on an election tour to Vadodara, had fainted at a public meeting in Nizampura. He was orally administered glucose, after which, he regained full consciousness within minutes.
Rupani had reportedly told BJP leaders in Vadodara that he was not feeling well for the last two days.

The hospital said the chief minister has mild symptoms of COVID-19 and that his HRCT Thorax, IL-6, D-DIMER and oxygen saturation is normal. He is stable, the hospital said.
Last night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Rupani and asked him to take complete rest. Deputy chief minister Nitin Patel and Gujarat BJP president C.R. Patil had called on him.
Elections to six municipal corporations will be held on February 21. This will be followed by elections to district and taluka panchayats and municipalities.
