Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani fainted briefly late on Sunday evening at a public meeting in Vadodara.
Rupani has been travelling across the state to address rallies for the elections to six municipal corporations later this month.
The incident occurred at a rally in Nizampura.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a word with Rupani and asked the latter to take complete rest.
In the videos that have gone viral, Rupani's bodyguard can be seen trying to hold him, in vain.
He was given water and, reportedly, administered some treatment on the spot.
Sources said that he was to be taken to SSG Hospital in Vadodara, but, then, it was decided that he will go to Ahmedabad.
A BJP leader said that Rupani was taken to the U.N. Mehta Hospital in Ahmedabad for further investigation.
In Vadodara, when asked, Rupani is reported to have told BJP leaders that he was feeling weak on Sunday.
Recently, in an exclusive interview to THE WEEK, he had expressed confidence of the BJP winning the elections easily, with increase in number of seats.
