Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (DMK) president M.K. Stalin said on Monday that he would comment on Rajinikanth’s political entry only after the actor floated his party and announced his ideology. “Anybody can enter politics. All have the right in a democracy,” he said.

Stalin’s comment came even as the ruling AIADMK dropped strong hints of a possible alliance with the actor soon after he announced his intention to launch his party in January 2021.

Stalin, however, said he did not hear any reports that Rajinikanth would not align with the DMK.

According to an IANS report, Stalin said the DMK alliance remains strong and better than it was during the Lok Sabha polls in 2019 when it won 38 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu.

Announcing the decision to launch his party in January, the 70-year old actor had categorically said that his party would fight assembly elections in 2021 and "emerge victorious."

Assembly elections are due in Tamil Nadu during April-May 2021.

Rajinikanth had created his own party infrastructure in the name of Rajini Makkal Mandram and has kept his fan club members guessing on his active plunge for over the past three years. While he is looked at as a man who has a soft corner towards the Hindutva forces, Rajini's 'spiritual politics' will be keenly watched after his official political plunge.
