After superstar Rajinikanth, on Thursday, ended years of suspense by asserting that he would launch his political party in January 2021, Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam hinted at a possible alliance between AIADMK and Rajinikanth's party saying, "If there is any chance, an alliance can be formed with his party."

"In politics, anything can happen," Panneerselvam said according to news agency ANI. He also welcomed Rajinikanth's decision to enter politics.

"We welcome great actor Rajinikanth's decision to enter politics. In politics, anything can happen. If there is any chance, an alliance can be formed with his party," Panneerselvam said.

AIADMK spokesperson Va Pughazendi too had welcomed the political entry of Rajinikanth saying, "Let him come, we are welcoming him. We are happy he is entering politics," NDTV reported.

Meanwhile, on being asked if the political entry of Rajinikanth would affect the prospects of the DMK, party leader A. Raja said, "Not at all. DMK vote bank won't be diluted at any cost. The antagonism & antipathy towards the corrupt govt of Edappadi Palaniswami will remain, which will be helpful to DMK."

Announcing the decision to launch his party in January, the 70-year old actor categorically said that his party would fight assembly elections in 2021 and "emerge victorious."

Assembly elections are due in Tamil Nadu during April-May 2021.

"No one will be more happy than me even if I happen to lose my life for people's sake. I will never fail to keep my word. A political change is compulsory and very important. It is the need of the hour. If such a change does not happen now, it will never materialise. We have to change everything," Rajinikanth said.
