The Centre has issued a notice to social media giant Twitter for allegedly showing Leh as part of Jammu and Kashmir instead of Union Territory of Ladakh.

In its notice issued on November 9, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has directed Twitter to explain in five days as to why legal action should not be taken against it for disrespecting India's territorial integrity.

According to reports, the notice termed the discrepancy in the map as a “deliberate attempt to undermine the will of sovereign Parliament of India”.

The microblogging site had earlier shown Leh as part of China after which the Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT had written to Twitter CEO raising an objection. In response, Twitter had rectified the error.

However, it has not yet corrected the map to show Leh as part of Union Territory of Ladakh.
