The son of Kalikho Pul, the former Arunachal Pradesh chief minister, was found dead in the UK under mysterious circumstances, family sources said on Tuesday.

Shubanso Pul (20) was found dead at his apartment in Brighton in Sussex, the family said.

He was the son of Kalikho Pul with his first wife Dangwimsai Pul.

The Pul family is trying to get in touch with the Indian High Commission in the UK to bring back Shubanso's body.

Shubanso's mother, Danwimgsai Pul, told The Print, "... We do not know under what circumstances he died, what happened to him. When I spoke to him, he was completely normal and did not show any signs of depression. He was happy and all fine.”

Dangwimsai told The Print Shubanso had spoken to his family on February 8 via WhatsApp and seemed okay. Shubanso was pursuing a law degree from the University of Sussex, The Print reported.

With the support of a few elected members of the Congress and the BJP, Kalikho Pul became the chief minister for a brief period in 2016. However, the Supreme Court ruled against the appointment, leading to his ouster.

Kalikho Pul allegedly hanged himself at his official residence in Niti Vihar in Itanagar on August 9, 2016.

While Dangwimsai Pul, the first wife, had moved the Supreme Court seeking a probe into the death and allegations of massive corruption mentioned in Kalikho Pul's suicide note, the BJP gave a ticket to his third wife, Dasanglu Pul, to contest the byelections from Hayuliang, which she won.
