A week after India grieved the death of two-year-old Sujith Wilson who was trapped in a tube well in Tamil Nadu's Trichy district for nearly four days, a five-year-old girl in Haryana has become the latest tube well victim.
Five-year-old Shivani died on Monday morning even as rescuers extracted her from the tube well in Hari Singh Pura village of Karnal district. The child was playing near her family home when she fell into the 50-foot-deep tube well on Sunday.
The local police and NDRF rushed to the site to launch operations to excavate the earth and attempt to rescue Shivani. The NDRF managed to extract Shivani, but she died of her injuries on the way to hospital.
