With torrential rain continuing in Kerala, flooding several areas and triggering landslides, thousands of people are being shifted to relief camps. Reports from volunteers, however, indicate that many camps are facing acute shortage of necessary items for inmates. Authorities have opened collection centres in some districts while some are yet to set up the facility. The items required in each camps are: Water bottle, sleeping mat, blanket, under garments (gents, ladies and children), dhothi, night gown, children's apparel, slippers, sanitary napkin, soap, tooth brush, tooth paste, Dettol, soap powder, bleaching powder, chlorine, biscuit, rice, sugar, green gram, dal, black gram, coconut oil, coconut, vegetables, curry powders, bread, baby food, bucket, mug, toilet brush, phenyl/Harpic.

The district administration has asked officials to collect the items in taluk offices. Scarcity of drinking water is a major concern.
