Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Badal on Thursday urged Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure that the Army authorities return the manuscripts, documents and relics belonging to the Gurus, taken away in the course of Operation Bluestar.

June 6 is the 35th anniversary of Operation Bluestar, when Indira Gandhi ordered the Army to enter the Golden Temple held capitve by Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala, who was spearheading a movement for Khalistan.

Badal said he had been trying for this for the last many years, but in vain.

The Akali Dal is a coalition partner of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and has been a time tested ally of the saffron party.

Badal also asked the home minister to ensure that the soldiers who had left their Army units and reached the Golden Temple after the attack on Darbar Sahib, be rehabilitated and be given their service benefits including pension. The Army had dismissed the deserters from service.
