According to exit polls, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the swept the Hindi heartland by cornering the Congress to a very few pockets in the five states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.

The Congress, which had won the assembly elections in 2018 in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, failed to consolidate the gains made and translate it into electoral gains in the Lok Sabha polls, as we go by the exit polls. The exit poll data shows that Narendra Modi still reigns the Hindi heartland and the Modi wave has once again worked for the BJP.
