Alin Sherin Abraham, a 10-month-old toddler from Mallappally in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district, has become the state's youngest organ donor. While her loss is irreplaceable for her family, her organs will help save the lives of five people.
Alin lost her life in a road accident in Kottayam on February 5 while travelling with her mother and grandparents. The vehicle they were in collided with another vehicle coming from the opposite direction, leading to critical injuries. She was later declared brain dead.
Following the tragedy, her parents consented to donate her organs. According to official sources, her heart valve will be sent to Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, her liver to KIMS Hospital, and her kidneys to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. Her eyes will be donated to an eye bank, as reported by OnManorama.
