"Welcome To The Jungle" (also referred to as "Welcome 3") has opened to a strong reception at the box office, collecting Rs 15 crore net in India on its first day. Including Thursday paid preview shows, the film’s domestic total rose to Rs 18.75 crore. Globally, the movie recorded an opening-day gross of around Rs 29 crore (per box office tracker Sacnilk), marking an impressive international debut for the franchise.
The film’s opening places it above not just several recent Hindi-language releases, but also Akshay Kumar's previous release and hit, "Bhooth Bangla", which opened at Rs 12.25 crore net in India and earned between Rs 23.6 crore and Rs 23.9 crore worldwide on its first day. It also performed better than "Jolly LLB 3" (2025), which opened to Rs 12.50 crore net. However, it fell behind the bigger multi-starrer "Housefull 5" (2025), which had a much stronger opening of Rs 24 crore net in India.
A key factor in "Welcome To The Jungle" early numbers was the support from preview screenings. Like "Bhooth Bangla", the film earned Rs 3.75 crore net from Thursday paid previews, which boosted its overall opening momentum even before the official first-day tally.
Despite not matching the highest recent comedy opening, "Welcome To The Jungle" achieved an important milestone within its own franchise. With Rs 15 crore net on day one, it recorded the highest unadjusted opening day in the "Welcome" series. It narrowly surpassed "Welcome Back" (2015), which had opened at Rs 14.35 crore net.
When preview earnings are included, the domestic total of Rs 18.75 crore gives the film an even stronger start, positioning it as one of the better-performing entries in the franchise’s history. On the global front, the Rs 29 crore worldwide gross opening is also significantly higher than "Welcome Back", which had opened at around Rs 22.35 crore worldwide. This improvement is attributed to wider international releases and higher ticket prices in overseas markets.
The original "Welcome" (2007) had opened at just Rs 3.35 crore. While that figure appears small today, it was considered very strong at the time, given fewer screens and lower ticket prices. The film eventually became a major superhit, earning approximately Rs 117.91 crore worldwide.
Overall, "Welcome To The Jungle" has delivered a healthy box office start. Though it has not broken all-time records in its genre, it has shown steady growth compared to earlier films in the series, performed well against several recent releases, and is expected to do bigger numbers during the weekend.
Directed by Ahmed Khan, "Welcome to the Jungle" has a massive ensemble cast comprising Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Arshad Warsi, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Disha Patani, among others.
