Malayalam superstar Mohanlal is all set to reunite with well-known filmmaker Priyadarshan for a very special project. The project marks the filmmaker's 100th project, and the fact that Mohanlal had been with Priyadarshan, right from the latter's first film, "Poochakkoru Mookuthi", from 1984. The duo, known as one of Malayalam cinema's most enduring and successful actor-director collaborations, last worked together in "Marakkar".

This creates a rare full-circle moment that fans and film lovers are celebrating. The film has not been given a title yet, and its story is being kept secret for now. However, it is expected to be a musical, which is different from the comedy films that the duo is often known for. The project will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, with Binu George Alexander as the co-producer.

Many in the film industry are calling this a historic collaboration, as it is uncommon for the same lead actor to appear in both a director’s first and 100th films.

Mohanlal shared his feelings about the project in an emotional message on social media. "Some milestones do not belong to one person alone. They belong to everyone who stood close enough to witness the journey. My dearest Priyan is stepping into his 100th film, and I find myself without words for what that truly means to me," he wrote.

He also spoke about the hard work and dedication behind this achievement. "A hundred films is not just a number. It is a lifetime of stories told with passion, countless mornings driven by belief in the magic of cinema, and a journey of unwavering dedication that I have had the privilege of witnessing up close. This landmark film is being brought to life by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, with Binu George Alexander as co-producer. I am deeply honoured to be a part of this journey. Some moments are not meant to be explained, only felt and held close with gratitude. To my friend, here is to everything you have created, everything you have given the world, and all the stories that are still waiting to be told."

Meanwhile, Mohanlal is shooting for "Thudarum" Tharun Moorthy's next film, in which he plays a cop. It marks his second collaboration with the director behind "Operation Java" and "Saudi Vellakka". His immediate release is "Patriot", co-starring Mammootty, and directed by Mahesh Narayanan, on April 23. He also has "Drishyam 3" coming up.

Priyadarshan has "Haiwaan", with Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar and "Bhooth Bangla" with the latter coming up next. Interestingly, Mohanlal is appearing in a cameo in the former, which is expected to be a Hindi-language adaptation of Priyadarshan-Mohanlal's Malayalam thriller "Oppam".
