India's growing defence industry unveiled another indigenous military platform at Eurosatory 2026, the world's largest exhibition for land and air-land defence and security equipment, with Kalyani Strategic Systems Limited (KSSL) and Paramount showcasing the next-generation Simha 4x4 Light Armoured Multi-Purpose Vehicle.
Developed jointly by KSSL, the wholly owned defence subsidiary of Bharat Forge, and global aerospace and defence company Paramount, the Simha 4x4 has been designed to meet the evolving mobility, protection and mission requirements of armed forces in India, Africa, South Asia and other international markets.
The vehicle is an all-new design developed as a highly adaptable and mission-configurable platform capable of undertaking a wide range of roles. According to KSSL, it is designed for missions ranging from reconnaissance, border protection and internal security to special operations, troop transport, force protection and command-and-control tasks.
Combining mobility, protection and agility, the Simha 4x4 is intended for both urban warfare and on-road and off-road reconnaissance operations, KSSL stated in a release. Its modular architecture allows users to upgrade, customise and modify the platform based on operational requirements while simplifying maintenance and logistics support.
KSSL said the vehicle has been engineered from the outset to address one of the key requirements of modern militaries — a protected and highly mobile vehicle capable of operating across multiple mission profiles without the need for separate specialised platforms.
The Simha 4x4 was developed in a relatively short timeframe using advanced digital engineering tools while maintaining extensive validation and testing processes.
Another key feature of the platform is its focus on local production. KSSL and Paramount said the vehicle has been designed to support local industrialisation and sovereign manufacturing objectives, allowing partner countries to rapidly establish production lines and reduce dependence on foreign supply chains.
"Simha 4x4 reflects the depth of engineering and defence expertise we bring to the global stage. Europeanised by design and built around NATO-qualified aggregates, it is engineered for rapid industrialisation in partner nations across the world," said Amit Kalyani, vice chairman and joint managing director of Bharat Forge.
He added that the platform demonstrates the ability of India's defence industry to deliver advanced protection and tactical mobility solutions while enabling partner nations to build such capabilities domestically.
Eric Ichikowitz, senior vice president of Paramount, said modern armed forces increasingly require adaptable platforms that can perform multiple missions, integrate emerging technologies and be manufactured locally.
"The Simha combines protection, mobility, modularity and affordability in a platform that can evolve alongside changing operational requirements," he said.
The unveiling comes shortly after KSSL showcased its MArG-39 next-generation 155mm/39 calibre mounted artillery gun system at Eurosatory.
The India pavilion at Eurosatory 2026 also features participation from DRDO, Bharat Electronics Limited, Tonbo Imaging, SMPP, MKU Ltd, Ashoka Manufacturing, Armoured Vehicles Limited and Mech Components, highlighting India's push to strengthen its position in the global defence market.
