Parvathy Thiruvothu, Dileesh Pothan to lead filmmaker Don Palathara's next

This collaboration marks the first time these celebrated talents will work together on screen, with Parvathy expressing her eagerness to join Palathara's unique cinematic world and learn from Pothan

Some of the greatest minds in Malayalam cinema are joining hands. Don Palathara, known for his acclaimed independent films such as Family, 1956: Central Travancore, and Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam, will direct Parvathy Thiruvothu in his next. It is bankrolled by Jomon Jacob, known for The Great Indian Kitchen, Purusha Pretham, and The Chronicles of the 4.5 Gang.

As per Variety, she will be joined in the lead cast by actor-filmmaker Dileesh Pothan, known for his high-intensity roles in films such as Ronth and O. Baby, and directorials Maheshinte Prathikaram, Joji, and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. The project marks their first collaboration. The two have neither shared the screen nor worked together in a actor-director collaboration before. They have, however, been part of an ensemble cast in Aashiq Abu's Virus.

In an official statement to the outlet, Parvathy said it has been waiting for an opportunity to star in one of Palathara's films for a while. “Don Palathara’s movies hold up a mirror to how we live and love, often without judgment or noise. To step into that kind of world as an actor is very liberating. .His films have a powerfully meditative quality. He invites us to actively engage in reflecting on how we live. As an actor, I find that kind of space exhilarating because it demands that you unlearn performance and simply be. This is also incredibly challenging," she said, while adding that working with Pothan would give her an "opportunity to be a student again.”

Notably, Parvathy's friend and WCC member Rima Kallingal has worked with Palathara before, in Santhoshathinte Onnam Rahasyam, an impressive single-take relationship drama.

Parvathy, last seen in the National award winner Ullozhukku and Pa. Ranjith's Thangalaan, has in her upcoming lineup the Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer I, Nobody and the Prime Video series, Storm, produced by Hrithik Roshan.
